Founded in 2013, the Tsubame-Sanjo Factory Festival revitalizes northern Japan’s metalworking region by opening factories to the public. This cultural movement reconnects people with local craftsmanship, inspiring youth nationwide to become artisans and encouraging workshops to stay open year-round. Facing industry challenges like workforce shortages and mechanization, the founding members have now formed a collective to continue the festival and explore new ways to celebrate and share Tsubame-Sanjo’s craft heritage.
