Modern Primitive Bali merges modernist design with traditional Balinese materials, guided by the Japanese principles of shibui and iki. Founded by Tom Shadle and Puji Astuti in 2003, the studio spans bespoke furniture, stonework, primitive art, and design consultation. Their vision culminates in a trio of “Art Homes”—villas that distil elemental beauty through crafted spaces, curated objects, and intergenerational creativity.
