Chiara Hardy (b. 2000) makes sculptures and installations that inhabit the interval between earth and sky. She scavenges, collects, and comes upon materials, letting them lead — in search of the moment when a piece comes alive in its own right. Growing up between Bali and New York, she draws on animism and physics alike, finding in both a language for forces that are felt but unseen. Often suspended, in motion, and tuned to natural forces, Chiara's works create a world of heightened reality that restores a sense of childlike wonder and presence.
